Security, Freedom and Justice after 9-11 will be discussed at a one-day symposium tomorrow, September 13, 2002. Chief Mark A. Kroeker will join fellow panelists, Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers; FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Charles Matthews III; and ACLU Attorney Charles Hinkle to discuss the far-reaching and permanent impact 9-11 had on the legal, law enforcement and public policy-making communities.Pacific Institute for Ethics and Social Policy in collaboration with the Community Relations Service of the Department of Justice and the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police is hosting the event. It will be held at the Grand Lodge, Forest Grove, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Other panelists include: Marc Marenco, who has taught Moral Philosophy at Pacific University since 1988; Andrea Meyer, legislative director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Oregon; Ronald J. Smith, District Director for the INS in Portland; and David Shomloo, Attorney, who fled post revolution Iran in 1979 and currently works in areas concerning Federal Habeas Action, and Federal Immigration Appellate Action before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as other areas.
