The male juvenile, who was involved in the shooting and wounded by Officer Weseman, has been identified as 16-year old Dustin Tyler Gomez. Gomez remains hospitalized.
According to investigators, Gomez's parents live out of state and he was staying here with family.
Dustin Tyler Gomez has been charged with: Eleven Counts of Attempt Aggravated Murder with a Firearm, Two Counts of Attempt Felony Murder with a Firearm, One Count of Assault with a Firearm, and One Count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

On October 29, 2002, a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted 16-year-old Dustin Tyler Gomez on three counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder with a Firearm, one count of Attempted Aggravated Felony Murder with a Firearm, one count of Assault in the First Degree with a Firearm, two counts of Forgery in the Second Degree, and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Weapon with a Firearm. The charges stem from the October 18, 2002, shooting of Portland Police Officer George William Weseman Jr. Arraignment is scheduled for November 8, 2002.
