Elder Crimes Unit searches for theft suspect

December 11, 2002 00:00

The Portland Police Bureau Family Services Division's Elder Crimes Unit is currently looking for 47-year-old Charles Allen Burnett. Burnett has a felony warrant for Aggravated Theft 1. Elder Crimes investigators want to question Burnett in a series of thefts from several different elderly females in the Portland Metropolitan area. In each investigation, Burnett is suspected of contacting the victims at their home and agreeing to perform work, such as window washing or minor repairs. After Burnett leaves the victim's home, valuables such as a purse are discovered missing. In one investigation, Burnett is suspected of taking an elderly female to a bank in an attempt to persuade her to withdraw more than $10,000 in cash.

Burnett is described as a white male, six feet tall, 260 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information in this investigation is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau Family Services Division at (503) 823-0881.
