Traffic Division investigates death of 23-year-old female

On Thursday, January 2, 2003, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Portland Police were called to the intersection of North Vancouver Avenue and North Cook Street to investigate a fatal accident. The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Ashana Chenoa of Northwest Portland, died at the scene.

Investigators believe the accident occurred when Chenoa, who was driving a BMW, crossed North Vancouver Avenue Eastbound into the path of an SUV driven by 36-year-old Dina R. Harryhill of Northeast Portland. Harryhill was travelling Southbound on North Vancouver at the time of the accident. Chenoa's view of Harryhill's vehicle may have been obscured by a van turning Westbound onto North Cook Street directly in front of Chenoa's vehicle.

No citations were issued at the scene. There is no evidence Harryhill was impaired at the time of the accident.

This investigation is continuing.
