Mayor Katz and Chief Kroeker expand SNO program

On Thursday, February 13, 2003, at 9:00 a.m., in the 14th floor conference room of the Justice Center, Portland Mayor Vera Katz and Portland Police Chief Mark A. Kroeker will announce the expansion of the Senior Neighborhood (SNO) program. Chief Kroeker, along with crime prevention representatives and Senior Neighborhood Officers will also provide details of several of the stories that have made the program a success.

Through the SNO program, officers and citizens have:

- Reduced car prowls in targeted areas by more than 50%.

- Closed several drug houses.

- Broken up car prowl, shoplifting, and burglary rings.

- Developed and increased partnerships with both citizens and the business community.

Several SNOs and community representatives will also be available for interviews.
