SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN MURDER INVESTIGATION

On January 10, 2002, Portland Police Homicide Detectives arrested 47-year-old Sharon Kirk for the homicide of Larry Begay. Begay was found dead under an overpass at the intersection of Southwest Arthur Street and Southwest Naito Parkway on October 30, 2001. Kirk was indicted for Murder by a Multnomah County Grand Jury on January 7, 2002.

Kirk is the second suspect arrested in this investigation. Anthony Jackson was arrested for the murder of Begay on December 28, 2001.

Kirk is being held without bail in the Justice Center Jail on the charge of Murder. She will be arraigned at 2:00 p.m. on January 11, 2002. A photograph of Kirk is available via e-mail by calling the Portland Police Bureau Identification Division at (503) 823-0382.
