Police Seek up to 1000 identity theft victims

June 06, 2003 00:00

On Thursday, May 29, 2003, Northeast Precinct Senior Neighborhood Officers arrested 31-year-old Tasha Nilsen on one count of Computer Crime after executing a search warrant at her residence located in the 3100 block of Southeast 80th Avenue. During the execution of the warrant, officers discovered more than 500 stolen credit card numbers, checks and checkbooks. Subsequent investigation has led investigators to believe that the credit card numbers were obtained during a burglary of a restaurant known as Sweet Waters Jam House formerly located at 3550 Southeast Morrison Street.

Investigators believe that Nelson and other suspects used the stolen credit card information to order large amounts of property through the Internet. Investigators are currently attempting to locate anyone who used a credit card at Sweet Waters Jam House between March 2001 and July 2002 and then had any suspicious or illegal activity on their credit cards. Anyone with information is asked to call the Information and Referral line at (503) 823-4636.

A photograph of Nilsen is available, via e-mail, from the Portland Police Bureau Identification Division at (503) 823-0382.

This investigation is continuing.
