So far to date, July 15, 2003, Portland Police have received fourteen (14) reports, from dog owners and veterinarians, of dogs having been poisoned. Of that number, four (4) dogs have died and ten (10) dogs are ill. According to detectives, the dogs appear to have ingested the suspected poison on, or about, July 4th.
Detectives, who are awaiting results of toxicology tests, are treating the investigation as criminal in nature.
