Internet Contact Leads to Arrest on Sex Abuse Charges

January 22, 2004 00:00

On Wednesday, January 21, 2004, Portland Police arrested 27-year-old Clifford Ray Stevens after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a female who said that there was an unknown man in her 13-year-old daughter’s room. An investigation by members of the Family Services Division Child Abuse Team determined that the 13-year-old female had met Stevens on the Internet, where she subsequently provided Stevens with her address. Stevens is a transient who frequents Portland and the Metro area.

Stevens was lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center on one count of Rape in the Second Degree, one count of Sodomy in the Second Degree, and one count of Sex Abuse in the First.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information regarding Stevens contact Child Abuse Team Detective Gary Boek at (503) 988-6407.
