Portland Police Plan for Spring Break

March 19, 2004 00:00

From March 19, 2004 through March 28, 2004, the Portland Police Bureau will conduct a series of missions designed to keep young people safe and enhance the safety of Portland’s neighborhoods during spring break. The missions will include curfew sweeps, drug and alcohol compliance missions, and transit and traffic enforcement details.

“The Portland Police Bureau makes spring break a priority each year,” says Chief Derrick Foxworth. “Our goal is to have a violence-free week, where youth are engaged in lawful activity and enjoy a fun, safe week.”

Numerous organizations, including the Police Activities League (PAL), will be hosting youth programs during the next seven days. “PAL provides structured, supervised activities for area youth,” says Maura White, Executive Director of PAL. “Our spring break activities range from sports to art, as well as activity-oriented field trips. It’s always a positive, fun and safe time for kids.” Families are encouraged to contact PAL at (503) 823-0250 or Portland Parks and Recreation or visit their websites at or
