Traffic Investigator Releases Suspect Sketch

On July 23, 2004, at 8:30 p.m., 13-year-old Yves Ndemeye, was walking across SE Foster near SE 80th. He was in the marked crosswalk when a car traveling westbound hit him and did not stop. The suspect was last seen driving away northbound on SE 79th.

Ndemeye was taken to OHSU hospital, where he died the next day.

The Portland Police Traffic Investigation Unit is releasing a sketch of the suspect in that hit and run.

The suspect vehicle is described as dirty, 1980’s, American made car, possibly gray or silver. There may be damage to a headlight. The driver was a white male with dark hair and a beard.

Investigators have spoken with many witnesses, but there may be some who have not yet spoken to police. There may also be family or friends of the driver of the car who know about this hit and run and have not yet come forward.
