On Monday, February 7, 2005, at 7:23 p.m., Northeast Precinct Officers were dispatched to a “shots fired” call in the area of Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast Killingsworth Street. Officers arrived and contacted 24-year-old Willie Bell who had a gunshot wound to the arm. A short time later, officers received information leading them to a nearby apartment where they discovered the body of 20-year-old Wilando Lorell Bell. The shooting victims are brothers. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to initiate an investigation.
On Tuesday February 8, 2005, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was a “Gunshot Wound.” Detectives have developed probable cause to arrest Domenicke Eugene Sanders on one count of Murder, one count of Robbery in the First Degree, and one count of Attempted Murder in connection with this investigation. Sanders is described as a 25-year-old black male, 5’7” tall weighing 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Sanders should be considered armed and dangerous. Detectives are not releasing any additional suspect information at this time, but have not excluded the possibility that additional suspects are still at large.
Detectives also believe that Sanders is a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred prior to the shootings, but are not releasing specific information about the robbery.
Anyone with information in this investigation is asked to call Detective Kenneth Whattam at (503) 823-0696 or Detective Rich Austria at (503) 823-0449.
This investigation is continuing.
