21-year-old Man Stabbed to Death During Fight

March 05, 2005 00:00

On Saturday, March 05, 2005, 1:49 am, Portland Police responded to an altercation or possible stabbing in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant in the 2700 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue. Officers arrived and found the body of 21-year-old Tony B. Moonney. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and initiated an investigation. Investigators spent the next several hours processing the crime scene and collecting close to eighty pieces of evidence. Detectives have determined that as many as twenty to twenty-five people were involved in a fight armed with bricks, bottles, and at least one stabbing instrument. Two other males and one female were injured during the fight. All three additional victims have serious injuries but none has life threatening injuries.

Saturday afternoon, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that Moonney died of multiple stab wounds. For the safety of the three surviving victims, their names are being withheld at this time.

Detectives have no suspect information to release at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Chuck Shipley at (503) 823-0865 or Detective Brian Grose at (503) 823-0757.

This investigation is continuing.
