17-year-old Marcus Tyrell Jackson and 17-year-old Orlando Dean Nesta were arrested for one count each of Robbery I and Assault I. These arrests stem from an incident that occurred March 30, 2005 when a man was shot in the face during a robbery as he walked on a pedestrian overpass across I-5 near North Bryant.
U.S. Marshals and Gresham Police arrested Jackson at about 6:00 p.m. near an apartment of a relative in Gresham in the 4700 block of West Powell. He was under surveillance and officers approached as he left the house. He fled on foot and was caught in short time later hiding in a yard. He was found in possession of a handgun which he dropped during the foot chase, but it was recovered by police.
Nesta was arrested at about 9:00 p.m. near North Albina Avenue and North Bryant Street as he rode a bicycle.
The Special Emergency Reaction Team executed a search warrant at the house where Nesta lives in the 6700 block of North Interstate Avenue at about 10:00 p.m. Detectives recovered evidence including a rifle.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Detective John Russell at 503-823-0596.
While the suspects are juveniles, they were booked into the Multnomah County detention center. These are Measure 11 charges.
