On June 22, 2005, at 7:54 p.m., Portland Police responded to a “shots fired” call in the 8700 block of Southeast Division Street. Officers arrived and discovered the body of 28-year-old Chauntee Lamont Johnson in the parking lot of the Sun’s Market. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and initiated an investigation.
On Saturday, July 23, 2005, the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and determined that Johnson died of gunshot wound or wounds. For investigative reasons detectives are withholding the exact number and specific placement of the wound(s).
Based on information from witnesses, detectives believe the shooting occurred while the victim was talking with two African American males in an early 90’s, medium blue or green colored Ford Escort with a spoiler on the trunk, low profile tires, and custom wheels. No further description of either suspect is available at this time and the car fled the area immediately after the shooting.
