On Tuesday, August 2, Chief Derrick Foxworth along with Assistant Chiefs, precinct commanders and patrol officers will join neighbors at the 160 National Night Out parties being held this year. Chief Foxworth will attend the kick-off event at Applebee’s Restaurant, 1439 NE Halsey, at 5:00 p.m.
Chief Foxworth says, “I made a commitment to have an officer attend every one of the block parties being held. It’s a great idea to have not only Neighborhood Response Team officers but patrol officers, Traffic, Transit, and School Police officers attend these events.”
Applebee’s, Quest, New Season’s Market, and Infinity Broadcasting, are this year’s sponsors, contributing cash, advertising, and gift certificates to help support these parties.
“National Night Out is an excellent example of community policing at work – neighbors working with police to improve the quality of life on their block. I encourage you to step outside and meet your neighbors tonight, even if your block or neighborhood is not hosting a party. Knowing your neighbors is a great way to keep crime out of your neighborhood,” says Chief Foxworth.
If you don’t have an official event, plan to visit your local Applebee’s restaurant, where there will be activities and drawings in support of National Night Out.
