Detectives Release Drawing of Abduction Suspect

August 15, 2005 00:00

On Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at 5:31 a.m., Portland Police contacted a 32-year-old female in the 7000 block of Southwest Garden Home Road who reported that a male attempted to abduct her while she was walking to work. The suspect reportedly watched the victim prior to contacting her and then approached quickly from behind, dragged her from the sidewalk behind a parked vehicle. The victim struggled with the suspect, broke free, and ran to the middle of the road where she was able to gain assistance from another citizen.

The suspect has been described as a white male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’9” to 6 feet tall, with a medium build that is not muscular. The suspect had short dark hair and was wearing a dark, possibly black, soft-textured jacket, blue jeans, and some type of unknown colored laced-up shoes. The suspect possibly still has scratches on both sides of his face and behind his right ear.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mary Wheat at (503) 823-0400.

This investigation is continuing.
