Every holiday season since 1923, the Sunshine Division has provided Holiday Food Boxes to needy families throughout Portland. This year, the Sunshine Division will be supplying 3,000 Holiday Food Boxes to be distributed throughout the Greater Portland Area. Most of these boxes will be delivered by volunteers on Saturday, December 17th. All requests for assistance have been entered into the Holiday Assistance Network - Data System (HANDS) and compared to request at other cooperating agencies including: Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, FISH, Snow-Cap and others. Comparisons are made to ensure that as many families are helped this season as is possible. On December 12 and 14, volunteers will be packing food boxes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sunshine Division Warehouse. The Warehouse is located at 687 N Thompson, and anyone wishing to help should call 503-823-2119 to volunteer. Volunteers are asked to meet on Saturday, December 17, starting at 7 a.m. at one of the four locations listed below where the Sunshine Division will be distributing the food boxes. Deliveries will continue until about 11 a,m, when all the boxes have been delivered.
