OREGON NATIONAL GUARD TEAMS UP WITH PORTLAND POLICE SUNSHINE DIVISION FOR HOLIDAY FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTION ON DEC. 17
On Saturday, December 17, volunteers from the Oregon National Guard will assist the Portland Police Bureau’s Sunshine Division, along with volunteers from the local community and Portland Police Officers, to help deliver holiday food boxes to deserving families and individuals throughout the greater Portland Metro area.
Many recipients of the holiday food boxes are nominated by community members and police officers who encounter needy families in the course of their jobs. Families of National Guard members are also eligible to receive food baskets. Those wanting to submit names of deserving military families should do so through their local Family Support Coordinator.
The food box items have been donated by individuals and local area companies. The boxes include all the makings for a holiday meal — fresh vegetables, cranberry sauce, boxed stuffing mix, dessert ingredients, fresh bread, a coupon for milk, and a 5 lb. holiday ham. All food items are donated to the Portland Police Bureau’s Sunshine Division through their holiday food drive.
Volunteers are asked to meet on Saturday, December 17, starting at 7:00 a.m. at one of the four locations listed below where the Sunshine Division will be assembling and distributing the food baskets. Deliveries will continue until about 11:00 am when all the boxes have been delivered.
Delivery Locations Sunshine Division Main Warehouse – 687 N. Thompson Northeast Precinct – 449 NE Emerson Southeast Precinct – 4735 SE Burnside East Precinct – 737 SE 106th
