On Monday, January 9, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Portland Police Bureau will conduct a one-day budget workshop for community members and businesses, police-community advisory committees, city and county representatives, and interested civic and community organizations. The workshop will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel at the Lloyd Center, 1000 NE Multnomah. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Participants will consider how the Police Bureau should preserve core services while finding ways to reduce the police budget through innovation. It is an opportunity for participants to discuss what services are most important to them. For more information on the workshop, please visit the Police Bureau’s website at www.portlandpolicebureau.com or by calling 503-823-0283. Pre-registration is required and lunch will be included for registrants.
“With the Police Bureau facing a 3% budget reduction,” said Chief Derrick Foxworth, “this workshop is an excellent opportunity for citizens to help the Police Bureau shape its priorities for the next year. I strongly encourage community members to attend this workshop.”
