On Sunday, January 8, 2006, at 11:19 p.m., Central Precinct officers arrested 25-year-old Adam Lee Gibbs, 19-year-old Jeremy Steach, 16-year-old Tanya Luke, and 16-year-old Brandon Hare after responding to a reported robbery in the area of Southwest Oak Street and Southwest 6th Avenue. At the scene, officers contacted a victim who stated that four suspects, who claimed to be armed with a handgun, approached him and robbed him of his cash and cellular phone. Based on descriptions provided by the victim, responding officers quickly located and arrested the four suspects who were transported to the Detective Division.
During the interviews, detectives developed information leading them to believe that the four suspects may have committed multiple robberies in Downtown Portland between January 7, 2006, and January 8, 2006. Investigators also concluded that the suspects selected victims who appeared to be alone and vulnerable. The victims were then intimidated or threatened with physical force.
Despite the fact that investigators believe the suspects committed additional robberies, investigators cannot find any other victims who reported the crimes to police. Therefore, Detectives charged all four suspects with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree in regard to the January 8 robbery. The suspects have been booked into the appropriate facilities. Anyone who was a victim or anyone has information regarding these robberies is asked to call Detective Jeff Sharp at (503) 823-0453.
This investigation is continuing.
