GOLFERS COMPETE FOR THE 20TH ANNUAL BLUE VEIN IN SUPPORT OF THE SUNSHINE DIVISION
On Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2006, at 8 a.m., golfers from all around the Portland Metropolitan area will participate in the 20th annual Blue Vein Golf Tournament. The tournament, which is held at McMenamins Edgefield’s Pub Course, will feature a shotgun start, with more than 70 participants. McMenamins Edgefield is located at 2126 S.W. Halsey St. Troutdale, OR 97060. The Sunshine Division would like to thank McMenamin’s for their generosity with this event. This annual event raises money for the Isabell Hoyt Sunshine Kids School Clothing Program. Started in 1981, this program helps provide school clothing for area children. This program gives officers the ability to take children shopping for school clothes or shoes through the assistance of Fred Meyer. Last year, more than 150 children received school clothes through this program. The first community policing project, the Sunshine Division, was founded in 1923. More than 4,500 families pick up food each year directly from the Sunshine Division's warehouse, and more than 30,000 people receive Sunshine's food through its 40 nonprofit partner organizations (the Sunshine Division provides food to these organizations at no cost). The Sunshine Division is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you would like to help, please call the Sunshine Division at 503-823-2119, or visit the Police Bureau's website at www.portlandpolice.com to learn additional ways to contribute.
