Crime Stoppers for week of 02-13-06

February 14, 2006 00:00

Portland Police Homicide detectives, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers, would like your help in solving a case involving the suspicious disappearance of a Southeast Portland man.

Five months ago on September 22, 2005, 56-year-old Larry “Zeke” Melzer disappeared from his home located in the 1000 block of Southeast 33rd Avenue. Shortly before his disappearance, Melzer’s home was burglarized where guns were stolen.

Melzer’s vehicle, a 1993 silver Dodge Caravan was located in Southwest Portland shortly after Melzer’s disappearance. The vehicle has been impounded and examined for evidence. Detectives have reason to believe that Melzer was a victim of foul play.

Melzer is described as a white male, 6’0” feet tall and 160 pounds. He is balding with salt-pepper hair, often worn in a ponytail. He usually wears an English tweed driver’s cap and wears wire-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information about Melzer is asked to call Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and you remain anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at (503) 823-HELP (4357).
