Detectives Release Sketch of an Attempted Abduction Suspect

February 15, 2006 00:00

DETECTIVES RELEASE A SKETCH OF AN ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION SUSPECT

On February 2, 2006, at approximately 1:15 p.m., North Precinct officers contacted a 14-year-old girl after responding to a report of an attempted abduction in the area of North Lombard Street and North Catlin Avenue. The girl, a student at Roosevelt High School, told officers that she was walking westbound, on the north side of Lombard Street when a man pulled up alongside her and offered her a ride. The victim refused and continued walking on the sidewalk. As she walked, the suspect drove past the victim and parked his car further down the street. The suspect then got out of his car and approached the girl on foot, ordering her to get into his car. The suspect then grabbed for the victim’s arm. As he grabbed her, the victim kicked the suspect causing him to fall to the ground. The victim fled, notifying her parents and the police.

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old white male with a medium to heavy build. He is approximately 5’7” tall with brown hair and a full beard and mustache. The suspect was wearing a navy blue polo-type shirt and jeans and had was suntanned on his forearms and face to top of forehead suggesting that he may possibly work outside wearing a hat. The suspect’s car is described as a late 90’s red-colored Chevy Blazer sport utility vehicle with an Oregon “tree” license plate. The fourth digit of the license plate was possibly the letters L, I, or the number 1.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mike Weinstein, of the Portland Police Bureau’s Missing Persons Unit, 503-823-0446.

This investigation is continuing.
