Last year, officers arrested 31 people for a variety of charges such as Disorderly Conduct, Theft and Assault; 14 minors were also arrested for Minor in Possession of Alcohol charges. Additionally, dozens of minors were taken into custody for violation of the City’s Curfew Ordinance, and six people reported their vehicles being broken into.
This year, Portland Police will have a substantial and visible presence in Downtown Portland throughout the evening. The Portland Police Traffic Division will be especially looking for individuals who attempt to drive while under the influence of alcohol. The Curfew Ordinance will be enforced and police will be on the lookout for juveniles who are endangering themselves or others. Police are cautioning participants to enjoy themselves, but be aware of problems associated with being intoxicated, have designated drivers, and if a minor, be cautious due to the fact that in previous years, teenage women were especially targeted for inappropriate physical contact.
