14-Year-Old Arrested In Shooting of 13-Year-Old in NE Port.

On March 15, 2006, at 10:00 p.m., Northeast Precinct officers in cooperation with Portland Detectives, arrested a 14-year-old male at his home in the 400 block of Northeast Webster Street. The 14-year-old was charged with one count of Assault I with a firearm, One count of Menacing with a firearm and one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The weapon was recovered and the 14-year-old was lodged in the Juvenile Detention Center.

Earlier in the evening, the 14-year-old became involved in an argument with a group of juveniles in the area of NE Emerson Street and NE Garfield Avenue. During the argument, the 14-year-old produced a .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol and fired several rounds. One of the rounds struck a 13-year-old male behind his right knee. The 13-year-old rode his bicycle to Northeast Precinct where he was met by Portland Officers, who called medical personnel. The 13-year-old was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening wound.
