David Kirby—Undersheriff David Kirby began his law enforcement career with the Oregon State Police. In 1993, he joined the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and held positions of Patrol Deputy, Senior Patrol Deputy, Detective, Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander. In October 2007, he was appointed Undersheriff at the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Undersheriff Kirby is DPSST certified in both basic police and corrections. He also holds certificates in both police and corrections at the advanced, supervisory, management and executive levels. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government and the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association Command College.
Undersheriff Kirby has supervised several interagency teams—narcotics, gangs, identity theft and internet child exploitation and currently oversees the Jail, Community Corrections and the Civil Division (Courthouse Operations).
David is a staunch champion of regional disaster preparedness, and prior to becoming the RDPO Steering Committee Chair served as its vice chair from January 2012 to September 2013.
