Urban Trail Program Request Form

Urban Trails Program

Would you like to suggest a location for developing an urban trail in the Right-of-Way? Right-of-Way (ROW) is a public area that allows for the passage of people or goods and includes passageways such as freeways, streets, bicycle and pedestrian off-street paths, and alleys. Some City-owned ROWs could be considered candidate locations for urban trails that enhance the citywide pedestrian network. Good urban trail candidate locations may be ROWs that are City-owned, undeveloped, serve short trips to key destinations, connect pedestrians to transit (such as bus or MAX stops), improve the quality of the pedestrian environment, encourage walking, and/ or increase pedestrian safety and convenience. If you know of a ROW that could be used in this way and you have a few friends who don't mind getting dirty, you might be eligible to apply for PBOT’s Community-Initiated Neighborhood Trails Program. To suggest a location for developing an urban trail in the ROW through the PBOT Urban Trails Program, please fill out the form below and a City staff person will follow-up with you at their earliest availability to provide further direction and support as appropriate. Before filling out this form, please make sure that your proposed trail is in a City of Portland ROW using https://www.portlandmaps.com/. The map that pops up will show public ROWs – they will be any area that does not have an associated property number. For questions, please contact us at trails@portlandoregon.gov or check out our website at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/transportation/66082 Please allow 30 days for applications to be processed. This form must be approved by the Portland Bureau of Developmental Services, Bureau of Environmental Services, Urban Forestry, Utilities, and Parks and Recreation. The City of Portland complies with all non-discrimination, Civil Rights laws including Civil Rights Title VI and ADA Title II. To help ensure equal access to City programs, services and activities, the City of Portland will reasonably modify policies/procedures and provide auxiliary aids/services to persons with disabilities. Call 503-823-5185, TTY 503-823-6868 or Oregon Relay Service: 711 with such requests, or visit http://bit.ly/13EWaCg
