Get Ready to Activate Your Life with SmartTrips! Whether you are looking to get healthy, save money, or just have fun, SmartTrips can offer you real rewards.
SmartTrips is the program that delivers free customized transportation tools and information to your door – by bike – and offers many opportunities to get active and healthy with your Portland neighbors.
SmartTrips hosts over 100 classes and activities - for every age, and the whole family – including Ten Toe Express walks, Senior Strolls, Women on Bikes and Portland By Cycle rides and classes. In 2013 most of these activities will be focussed in or near Portland's Central City.
Ten Toe Express walks are for everyone - typically 2.5 to 4.5 miles, (about 5500 to 9000 steps if you are keeping track). There will be tours of historic Ladd’s addition, Portland Heights, Produce Row, and Kings Hill / Goose Hollow, to name just a few.
The popular Senior Strolls will again be offered on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00am. Strolls begin in May and will be held weekly into October. Tuesday strolls will offer a shorter, easier route than Wednesday strolls.
Women on Bikes rides this year will explore Neighborhood Greenways, historic areas, climb Council Crest, and visit some local Farmers Markets. Clinics give you the information you need to get started and keep you going, with maintenance, flat tire repair, winter cycling tips and more.
Tuesday and Wednesday night Portland By Cycle rides get even more entertaining this year with a special Senior bike ride, a Waterfront History ride, and a new series of Saturday morning rides. Portland By Cycle classes will cover bike maintenance, Senior Cycling Safety, All-Season Cycling, using maps and apps to get around, and shopping by bike.
Finally, Sunday Parkways are back with five events this year. Be sure to mark your calendar now for all the 2013 Sunday Parkways dates, and talk to your friends and neighbors about getting involved or volunteering for this fabulous event.
You’ll find descriptions, dates and times for all of our upcoming events in the Events Calendar and on the individual programs’ webpages. We hope to see you out being active while getting around Portland!
