If you’re new to this amazing city or have just moved to a new neighborhood, you’re fortunate to live in a place that provides a wide range of options for getting around. Portland SmartTrips is here to make sure you have the transportation resources you need. We’re a one-stop shop for all the tools and information you need to get around and grab the city by the horns – or handlebars.
Portland's mixed-use neighborhoods make it easy to incorporate walking into your daily routine. Explore a variety of places in Portland on our Ten Toe Express walking tours. Click here for more walking resources.
Portland is a great city for biking. Most people here live within a quarter mile of a bike lane, Neighborhood Greenway or a multi-use path ready to whisk you off to your destination. Portland By Cycle rides and classes show you the best low-stress ways to get where you're going - by bike. Click here for more biking resources.
Portland has an enviable transit system for a city of our size. An interconnected system of TriMet buses and MAX light rail trains, Portland Streetcar and even an Aerial Tram make it easy to get where you're going without a car.
There are lots of options for Portlanders who want to live a carfree or carlight lifestyle. Car sharing is abundant here, with four different companies offering vehicles to use by the minute, hour, or day. Some apartments even offer a car for tenant use, making it easy to give up your car or do without a second car.
Start here! This is the golden ticket to having Portland in the palm of your hand. Pretty soon you’ll be rolling and strolling and navigating the city like a native. And yes, it’s all FREE!
