Portland Mayor Charlie Hales, City Commissioner Steve Novick, Transportation Director Leah Treat and PBOT staff met with the public at three open houses in February to discuss transportation needs. Members of the public browsed dozens of posters and maps explaining current maintenance, safety and other transportation issues.
Residents provided input with comments and questions at the meeting. The video above provides a sample of some of the views expressed at the meeting.
Over the coming weeks and months, city staff will work with residents to refine our funding priorities and identify possible sources of revenue, with the goal of developing a proposal that will help us get our streets in better condition and improve safety. Stay tuned for information on upcoming town halls.

The Transportation Bureau allocates its resources mainly to basic maintenance, parking and capital programs. This two-page budget overview presented at the town halls shows how the bureau is investing its money in fiscal year 2013-14.
