Street Naming Process

All newly created street segments, for both public and private streets, are named during the plat review process.  For public safety purposes, the street name for the new street segment must be appropriate to the existing street name grid.  Keep in mind that in most cases, a new street is actually an extension of an existing street.  Thus, most new street segments created through the platting process are given existing street names.  The only exception to this would be a new street segment that does not fit the existing street name grid (such as streets that do not run north/south or east/west).

Alleys (both public and private) as well as common greens are not named.
