Park + Walk Campaign

Healthy Steps Start With You!

What is Park + Walk?

Park + Walk encourages parents driving to school to drop-off or pick-up their children 2-4 blocks away from school (or more!). This allows students to walk the rest of the way and get some exercise. Park + Walk is an encouragement campaign designed to be simple and fun. It does not have to be a lot of work.

Park + Walk targets traffic congestion around schools. By having more studnts walk to school, we decrease traffic congestion and pollution around the school and increase physical activity and student safety.

How Do I Get Park + Walk Started at My School?

We are here to offer you training, printed campaign resources and support at your Portland school. Check out this simple Park + Walk brochure, including information about carpool:

SRTS can help design school-specific outreach materials!

See these examples of school-specific Park + Walk brochures. That extra touch can really make a difference!

Sacramento Elementary - This simple design invites families to try out a walk route that one family uses almost every day. The site is close to school with lots of free parking, and adds less than 5 minutes to the commute. This is a great option to spread the word without a lot of organizing.

Sunstone Montessori - This is a more detailed design with lots of information about a few different walk and bike routes. Students are coming from all over Portland to reach Sunstone, so a lot of options are necessary.
