On Saturday May 22, the rain didn’t stop nearly 40 ambitious Bridger bike riders of all ages who gathered for a 4-mile ride around the Montavilla neighborhood in southeast Portland. Riders were treated to free bike tune-ups from the Bike Gallery and fueled up before the ride with bagels from Panera Bread, fruit from New Seasons, and coffee from Stumptown!
Upon returning to Bridger K-8, the school was bustling with people playing in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, making journals out of old cereal boxes, enjoying the drumming of Bridger’s “Sound Brigade”, cooking demonstrations, free plant starts from the American Center for Sustainability and learning about places like the Montavilla Community Center, Multnomah County Library, and the Montavilla’s Farmer’s Market.
The goal of the day was to learn about some healthy, sustainable living habits and have fun while doing so! Mission accomplished by the over 300 people that shared the day with us.
