Kaiser Permanente Makes $100,000 Grant to City of Portland

Jeff Weisz, MD, president and chief medical director of Kaiser Permanente Northwest, and Sue Hennessy, vice president of Strategic Planning & Health Services, led a group of Kaiser Permanente staff and past Sunday Parkways volunteers from Pioneer Courthouse Square to City Hall in a show of support for Sunday Parkways. The procession ended in Portland City Council chambers with a formal check presentation to Mayor Sam Adams, City Council members, and other city officials.

“Over the past four years, Sunday Parkways has been an incredibly popular civic celebration,” said Mayor Adams. This annual event honors Portland’s unique culture, encourages friends and families throughout our community to build relationships, and inspires healthy outdoor activities.

“The city of Portland is grateful to Kaiser Permanente for their ongoing support and partnership,” Adams said. “This partnership is more than financial — many staff members, physicians, and their families contribute in many ways, including volunteering to manage traffic and clean up our parks.”

“Sunday Parkways is one of a handful of annual events that highlight the importance of exercise, healthy living, and fun on a broad community scale,” said Dr. Weisz. “Our organization seeks to support the total health of Portlanders, caring for the mind, body, and spirit. We’re pleased to support this uplifting celebration that encourages people of all ages and stages of life to thrive.”

Thank you Kaiser Permanente for continuing to support Sunday Parkways!
