Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge opening celebration is Saturday in S. Waterfront
WHAT:
Mayor Sam Adams is hosting a grand opening of the new Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge over Interstate 5 in Southwest Portland. The 700-foot long pedestrian and bicycle bridge is adjacent to the aerial tram and reconnects the historic Lair Hill neighborhood to the Willamette River and South Waterfront District.
The grand opening will include speeches by dignitaries, including former U.S. Congresswoman Darlene Hooley and neighborhood representatives. After a ribbon cutting and photo opportunity, the public will walk across the bridge and be invited to attend pedestrian and bicycling tours of the area.

Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Media are advised to arrive at 9:45 a.m.
WHERE:
The event will be held at the bridge plaza at SW Moody Avenue and SW Gibbs Street, across SW Moody from the base of the Portland Aerial Tram. The bridge plaza is at the eastern end of the new Gibbs bridge where the elevator is located.
WHO:
Mayor Sam Adams and former U.S. Congresswoman Darlene Hooley will be joined by representatives from Southwest Portland.
