The Active Transportation Ambassador Program is a limited opportunity for volunteers to get hands-on experience with Active Transportation staff to reach out to Portland residents. Ambassadors representing the Bureau of Transportation present information to encourage people to use a variety of modes to get around Portland. Ambassadors also share safety information and encourage people to share the road.
Apply to become a Transportation Ambassador! Completed applications are due Friday, April 18th.
Selected Ambassador applicants receive a 2-hour training at the Active Transportation Ambassador Academy on information and skills necessary to talk with the public at community events about all transportation options. The training will be Wednesday, May 7th from 6-8 pm, at the Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Ave. Other Ambassador opportunities include assisting on guided walks and bike rides; conducting bike and pedestrian counts; assisting at bike clinics; tabling at community events; and doing office work. Ambassadors are expected to commit to at least two events during the 2014 season.
Ambassadors get an inside look at how one of the best bicycling and walking cities in North America gets that way. Additionally, Ambassadors get an official City of Portland Bureau of Transportation t-shirt, a variety of walking, biking and transit incentives throughout the summer, and an opportunity to expand their skills.
