Last Sunday, people came out to experience parts of East Portland on traffic-free streets. They gathered in parks to enjoy music, exercise, talk to community groups, meet their neighbors, support local businesses and learn about their city. But most of all 12,200 people came out to play along the Sunday Parkways route. Even the threat of rain did not keep them away. Kids of all ages hula hooped, scooted on two wheels, posed for cameras and balanced on stilts. Grown-ups pedaled around, danced to great music, ate delicious quinoa salad and laughed.
The Sunday Parkways staff could not have asked for a better day! The volunteers were super stars in facilitating traffic, assisting residents and cheering on participants. Thank you to our sponsors and everyone else who made the event successful!
We look forward to the Northeast Sunday Parkways, June 23rd, 11 am - 4 pm. Join us in the fun!
