1120 SW Fifth Ave, Suite 800, Portland, OR 97204
(February 18, 2016) The final Fix-It Fair of the season happens Saturday, February 20 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at George Middle School, 10000 N Burr Ave. These free events, brought to you by the Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS), offer you the opportunity to connect with your neighbors and talk to the experts on a range of topics including health and nutrition, water and energy savings, emergency preparedness, gardening and composting, and even active transportation and safety.
There are many great reasons to attend a Fix-It Fair, but these are our top three:
Reason no. 1: Fix-It Fairs always offer a free healthy lunch for participants, and free on-site professional childcare is provided.
Reason no. 2: Bikes for Humanity will volunteer their time to provide as many minor bike fixes as possible during the day. Please deliver your bike for repair before 2:00 pm so volunteer mechanics have plenty of time to complete their work before the fair ends at 3:00 pm. Bikes for Humanity will also offer a Flat Tire and Chain Repair workshop at 10:00 am.
Reason no. 3: This fair will also offer a series of workshops in Spanish. Please help spread the word to your Spanish speaking family, friends and neighbors.
Additionally, this event will host the popular Repair Café, and PBOT Active Transportation and Safety staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide maps, resources and tips on getting around Portland safely and actively. For more information on the Fix-It Fairs, check out BPS’s website or download the brochure (pdf) for the upcoming event.
