Options Ambassadors

Transportation Options Ambassadors Program is a limited opportunity for volunteers to get hands-on experience with Transportation Options’ staff to reach out to Portland residents. Ambassadors representing the Office of Transportation present information to encourage pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and transit riders to travel safely together - share the road.

Selected Ambassador applicants receive training on the information and skills necessary to talk with the public at outreach events about all transportation options. Other activities include guided walks, guided bicycle rides, bicycle helmet giveaways, bike counts, and transportation fairs. Ambassadors are expected to commit to at least two events throughout the spring, summer and fall of 2006.

Ambassadors get an inside look at how Portland has become the best bicycling and one of the best walking cities in North America. Additionally, Ambassadors get an official City of Portland Office of Transportation T-shirt, an Ambassador Academy Certificate, and a variety of walking, biking and transit incentives throughout the summer.

Please send your resume along with a completed application. Questions? Call Janis McDonald (503) 823-5358 or email: janis.mcdonald@portlandoregon.gov.
