Street Seats 2013 Program - Applications now being evaluated
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is currently evaluating applications received as part of the new Street Seats 2013 program. Based on similar programs in San Francisco and New York City, PBOT experimented with a pilot Street Seats project in 2012. Based on feedback from community members and business owners, the pilot was deemed a success.
PBOT's application window for the new Street Seats program closed on May 1st, 2013. This application deadline allows applicants to have approved Street Seats installed in time to take advantage of summer weather while allowing PBOT to review proposals in concert.
Program materials are still available online: new program guidelines, related design guidelines, and the Street Seats 2013 program application. Questions are welcome by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 503-823-0805.
The new Street Seats program will replace a rolling application process with limited application windows, to allow the Transportation Bureau to evaluate applications together, identifying potential conflicts between applicants. Interested businesses should plan on meeting an initial application deadline of May 1st.
Site locations and platform design are approved by the City Traffic Engineer based on a set of design criteria.
