Portland Water Rates, Fiscal Year 2013-14
The Water Bureau delivers water service to Portland residents and businesses. Water rates are based on the cost of providing service to residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and wholesale customers. Water bills pay for:
- Operating and maintaining the water system
- Providing customer service
- Constructing and replacing water facilities
- Complying with regulatory standards
- Paying debt service on bonds
The average single family residential monthly bill for water service increased 3.6% on July 1, 2013. The monthly water bill for the typical single family residential customer using 5 ccf a month in fiscal year 2013-2014 is $27.61. The city adjusts water rates annually on July 1.
With the volume rate $3.441 per ccf = 2.17 gallons cost a penny.
