Job Description: The Water Bureau Emergency Management Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing the bureau’s emergency management program.  The incumbent’s duties include providing administrative and technical management, expertise and coordination on program activities; exercising sound judgment and considerable discretion in carrying out responsibilities independently and with awareness of emergency preparedness issues and sensitivities; developing, implementing and managing bureau-wide emergency preparedness programs, including planning, training, education, response, recovery and equipping of bureau staff; coordinating emergency preparedness with other City bureaus and regional agencies; and performing related duties as assigned.

Job Description: Electricians install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and instrumentation equipment, electrical systems, sub-systems, circuits and controls such as motors, service equipment, generators, controllers, electrically operated valves and pumps, welding machines, electronic controls, microprocessors, transformers, services, branch circuits including traffic control circuits and other components/facilities as assigned. Work varies from bureau to bureau but could include rigging guy wires, installing signal heads and street lights, splicing cable, repairing and installing appliances and light fixtures. In some instances, responsibilities may include working on alarm systems, instrumentation, distributed control systems, communication systems, and/or PLC programming and repair. Work also includes implementing scheduled maintenance programs using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Work may involve off-hour standby, various work shifts/hours, weekends, and, occasionally, mandatory overtime.  Current vacancies are in the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

Industrial Painter

Location: Columbia Boulevard Plant, 5001 N Columbia Blvd., Oregon
Job Description: The Industrial Painter responsibilities include painting, texturizing, small repair and patching of concrete surface areas, and miscellaneous cleaning and repair work in the maintenance of tanks and industrial parts and equipment. Employees perform painting tasks at a Wastewater Treatment Plant and around pump station buildings and machinery. Work includes the erection of scaffolding or other stagings, removal of paint and other surface preparation tasks, and the mixing and application of paints using brush, roller, or spray gun. Responsibilities include pressure washing surfaces, industrial coatings, painting interior and exterior of buildings. Employees also patch small areas of concrete, patch roofs and make repairs in and around buildings. Employees must follow safety precautions in performing tasks from elevated scaffolding, and in operating pieces of equipment such as hydro blasters, compressors, sandblasters, and any gas, electric or pneumatic equipment necessary to do the job. The Current vacancy is at the Wastewater Treatment plant.
