Technical Assistance

Technical assistance is available to both the regulated community (businesses who use more than the threshold amount of chemicals) and non-regulated community (residents and some agriculture) in the form of education and outreach, in addition to financial resources and on-site consultations for businesses.

  • For Businesses
Technical assistance is available to regulated businesses through the Columbia Corridor Association (CCA). The City’s goal in its partnership with the CCA is to assist Columbia South Shore businesses in assessing their compliance issues and planning to bring their businesses into compliance by producing educational materials, hosting workshops and providing technical assistance. The CCA can be reached at (503) 287-8686. You can also download reporting forms and employee training materials.

  • For Residents
Education and Outreach to the non-regulated community (residents and agriculture) is being provided by the Columbia Slough Watershed Council. Look for tours, family activities, and workshops in our calendar of events or detailed information about what you can do to protect groundwater.

  • For Agriculture
Most agricultural users will likely not be regulated under this program, but if you use and store regulated chemicals in exceedence of the threshold, you may have to comply with requirements.  There is an exemption for the handling and application of fertilizer, plant growth retardants and pesticides in accordance with accepted agronomic practices and manufacturer’s label instructions. Education and outreach to the non-regulated community (residents and agriculture) is being provided by the Columbia Slough Watershed Council. Look for tours, family activities, and workshops in our calendar of events or detailed information about what you can do to protect groundwater.
