One UNPAID Position
The Design Section conducts basic research on water main projects, prepares technical reports, and prepares cost estimate/takeoff. Office support and assisting project managers with fieldwork is also needed. Applicants should be majoring in civil or environmental engineering.
Two UNPAID Positions
Duties in the Construction Management Section include office support, assistance in managing contracting submittals file support, and assistance to project manager engineers and construction inspectors with fieldwork. Applicants should be majoring in civil or environmental engineering.
Land Surveying /ROW Acquisition
One UNPAID Position
As an intern in Land Surveying/ROW Acquisition you will be introduced to the different aspects of working in a land Survey Department that includes a Right-of-Way (ROW) Acquisition Department. In a standard land survey project, you will become familiar with the tools to research and gather existing land survey data to support survey projects for design infrastructure improvements and development. You will also become familiar with updating and maintaining group land survey records through the use of Bentley MicroStation to post survey project results in a group database. You will make use of public records available over the internet that retrieves land survey data of record and land ownership information to assist in mapping of survey and ROW information. Results are used to assist crews in the field to recover and map monuments of record to assist in proper mapping of topographic (planimetric and 3D) survey data within the public ROW. There are numerous City projects that require field land survey work including field topographic surveys, construction of pipeline alignments within public ROW and City owned easements and properties, pressure zone surveys to rate regulation of water pressures, and numerous property line determination work to assist the ROW Section. You will be trained in the use of our technologically state of the art equipment, including LEICA System 1200 GPS and terrestrial equipment using RTK technology from the ODOT statewide Real Time network and Digital leveling for high precision vertical networks. Applicants should be majoring in civil engineering or professional land surveying.
