Cost-sharing

What is the Portland Water Bureau cost-sharing program?
The Water Bureau cost shares with applicants for water main extensions, public fire hydrants, and water main connections from the public water system to privately constructed subdivisions. To be eligible, the total cost of the project must not exceed $125,000.

How are the costs shared?
Currently applicants are responsible for 60% of the eligible project costs and the Portland Water Bureau is responsible for 40% of the eligible project costs, not to exceed $5,395 for a stand alone fire hydrant installation and not to exceed $2,740 for a hydrant installed with a main extension.

Costs for services (such as installing or activating services or service branches or removing service branches) are not included in the cost-share program.
