The public is invited to attend the Sandy River Restoration Expo on Saturday, April 7, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at Sandy High School, 17100 Bluff Road in Sandy, Oregon. A choice of five field tours will follow the Expo. Property owners along the Sandy River are especially encouraged to attend as well as anyone interested in improving fish habitat in the Sandy River basin.
At the Expo’s morning session, regional experts on such topics as river restoration, invasive plants, emergency response and climate change will offer workshops and be on hand to answer questions. At 1:00 pm, the Expo will close so that visitors can head out for an afternoon field tour of their choice. Tours include a Sandy River raft float trip, a tour of Portland’s water supply facilities in the Bull Run watershed, a visit to a successful side-channel restoration site on the Salmon River, and more.
Pre-registration for both workshops and field tours is strongly encouraged by calling (503) 622-9134. For more information and a description of each tour and workshop, visit www.sandyriver.org/expo.
The Expo is sponsored by the Sandy River Basin Watershed Council, Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Portland Water Bureau.
