TRAFFIC ADVISORY 12/19/12: Traffic Signals will be Out of Service at Intersection of SW Macadam at SW Nevada Street on Thursday, December 20

The traffic signals on SW Macadam Avenue at the intersection of SW Nevada Street must be shut off for four hours on Thursday, December 20, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  A contractor for the Portland Water Bureau must drill through the pavement to take geological samples under these streets.

Traffic flaggers will be stationed to move vehicles through the intersection, but motorists should expect delays. Vehicles will be channeled into one lane in the north and south-bound directions using signs and traffic cones.

The geotechnical survey work is connected to the planning of a new drinking water pump station that will be located inside nearby Willamette Park. This facility will replace the aging 100 year-old Fulton Pump Station located on SW Nevada Street, west of SW Macadam Avenue. Construction is slated to start in spring 2014.

Motorists and bicyclists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid this work zone.
