Portland to Vote on Water Fluoridation in Special Election

The decision to add fluoride to Portland’s drinking water will be determined by a public vote in the May 21, 2013 Special Election. Ballots will be mailed to registered Portland voters on Friday, May 3, 2013.

On September 12, 2012, the Portland City Council unanimously passed Ordinance No. 185612 that authorized and directed the Portland Water Bureau to add fluoride to the drinking water supply. Through a citizen referendum process, the Council’s decision is now subject to a public vote.

For informational purposes, the Portland Water Bureau has posted a list of answers to Frequently Asked Questions we’ve received from the public and news media on water fluoridation. The page is online at http://www.portlandoregon.gov/water/fluoride.

Nature does not put ANY hydrofluorosilicic acid into the environment! Hydrofluorosilicic acid is a purely man-made chemical concoction which is usually the leftover waste from fertilizer companies, it contains over 40 different chemicals including the proven neurotoxin, fluoride. Harvard University published a report last year which showed that fluoride seriously lowers IQ levels in children exposed to it. To compare naturally occurring sodium or calcium fluoride with the highly toxic witches' brew hydrofluorosilicic acid is willfully misleading.

It is impossible to control the dosage to vulnerable groups of the population through mass-medication projects such as "fluoridation". Babies & children, dialysis patients, athletes, minority groups, anyone who consumes large amounts of water relative to their body mass or whose genetic racial make-up makes them more susceptible to the negative effects of fluoride all would suffer from forced medication of this type.

Two questions, 1) If fluoride were so natural and good for you, why does Mother Nature filter it out of breast milk? Standard fluoridation at around 1ppm is over 200 times higher than that found in breast milk!

  1. Can you show me anywhere in the world a report that declares hydrofluorosilicic acid as safe for human consumption? And please do not give me that "disassociation" guff-all of these do not "completely disassociate"!...

TYPICAL COMPOSITION OF HYDROFLUOROSILICIC ACID (H2SiF6)
AS ANALYZED IN DUBLIN ON 14/08/2000 IN A CONFIDENTIAL REPORT

CALCIUM 51 PPM
MAGNESIUM 23.9 PPM
SODIUM(NA) 33.6 PPM
POTASSIUM(K) 6.2 PPM
ALUMINIUM 2.1 PPM
BORON 14 PPB
MANGANESE 571 PPB
COPPER 90 PPB
ZINC 523 PPB
PHOSPHORUS 26187 PPM
BARIUM 168 PPB
IRON 11.85 PPM
SULPHUR 134.9 PPM
ARSENIC 4826 PPB
CADMIUM 4 PPB
CHROMIUM 3763 PPB
MERCURY 5 PPB
NICKEL 1742 PPB
LEAD 15 PPB
SELENIUM 2401 PPB
THALLIUM <2 PPB
ANTIMONY 14 PPB
TIN 4 PPB
COBALT 56 PPB
STRONTIUM 88 PPB
MOLYBDENUM 490 PPB
BERYLLIUM <2 PPB
VANADIUM 87 PPB
So, for every 1ppm of "optimum level" fluoride they try to give you, you get 26,187 ppm phosphorus, too. Not to mention all the other rubbish. Does this really make sense to anyone?

>Fluoride was the key chemical in atomic bomb production, according to the documents. Massive quantities of fluoride – millions of tons – were essential for the manufacture of bomb-grade uranium and plutonium for nuclear weapons throughout the Cold War. One of the most toxic chemicals known, (UF6), nuclear weapons. Fluoride contains low levels radioactive isotopes it harms slowly, It stops the Thyroid from producing certain hormones to fight off Cancer and other illnesses!

Hurrah! The People Spoke! Keep your chemicals out of our water! You already put enough in there.

I agree with the previous two comments. All you have to do is Google this term, fluoride, and you will find these references. Or, just look up Fluoridation.com and you'll find all these and more. I'll bet if the other 30 cities who have this fluoride in their water had the knowledge that we have and the ability to quickly activate their citizens: Well, I believe they wouldn't have it in their water, either.

Why poison us and then make us pay for it in our water bill? I don't want to bathe in it, use it to take my thyroid pill or make my coffee. I certainly don't want the local farmers spraying it on my fruits and vegetables.

Shame on all of you city council members for falling for this mis-information: and subjecting us to the extra work of having this vote. I will also work to make sure ALL of you are NOT re-elected. Especially those who acted like they were with us and then voted against us... that'd be you Ms Fritz, Leonard is a lame duck anyway, and could not believe Steve Novick was for this trickster issue. I wasn't too surprised about the other council members. It's a wait and see to find out what Mayor Charlie Hales is gonna do. I suggest that everyone just go along with the citizens.

The reference URL for the above poster, Steve Martin, is this one: http://www.fluoridation.com/atomicbomb.htm It's all there in black and white when you got time to read it.

It certainly DOES occur in nature. Please stop receiving your education from Alex Jones and Natural News. I personally want Fluoride in my water and now because of the misinformed and uneducated, all citizens will be missing out on the benefits of one of the most important health advances of our time. What next? Will the anti-vaccine crowd take over the CDC? Shame on you holistic BS crowd and your taking it upon yourselves by lowering the quality of life for the rest of us.
