Wonderful Water-Efficient Plants for Your Yard

By Lindsay Wochnick

One of the central tenets of water-wise landscaping is choosing the right plant for the right place. This is done by understanding how sun, shade and soils vary across different areas in your landscape, and by grouping plants with similar watering needs.

To help choose the right plants for your yard, pick up or request a copy of the Water-Efficient Plant guide (see below). It is a colorful guide designed to make choosing water-efficient trees, shrubs, perennials and ground covers easy! Please note that it includes both native and non-native (but well adapted) plants to our region.

Here are a few of our favorites that do great in Portland and don’t require lots of water once they are established.
