Sewer repair includes grey and green solutions

Environmental Services infrastructure projects to repair and upgrade Portland's sewer and stormwater systems combine grey and green solutions. Green solutions like green street planters, trees, rain gardens, and watershed restoration work with pipes to collect, store, clean, and recycle the 37 inches of rain that Portland receives each year. This helps reduce flooding and basement backups while protecting water quality in our rivers and streams.
